What’s trending in laminate flooring?
Laminate flooring has long been considered an affordable, appealing alternative to genuine hardwood. It's only gotten better over the years with digital photography, better seaming, and embossing.
There's almost nothing you can't achieve with technology. Planks are wider and patterns, like herringbone and chevron, are available. Here's what else you can expect to see.
Textures are big!
On wood, textures are created primarily by hand. With wood looks, they're made by machine.
They include brushed, where the outer layers are scraped with a wire brush. That exposes the heartwood, resulting in a smooth, slightly rustic look on the laminate wood flooring.
Hand-scraped features long scrapes. Color variations between the planks give the surface a handcrafted look.
Distressed goes all the way. Scratches, dents, and burn holes make the floor look beat up.
Embossed-in-register floors
This refers to little indentations being made that exactly match those of the image. Beautiful textures that mimic the natural wood grains give surface authenticity and realism.
Light colors
Right now, homeowners are embracing light, airy, open atmospheres. That includes the floor!
White, whitewashed, gray, blond, and caramel are hot wood look laminate colors. These hues coordinate with anything and work with every decor, whether contemporary, coastal, mid-century, or rustic and homey.
High variation colors are also trending with laminate flooring. No two pieces are ever alike in Mother Nature's creations. However, it's easy to create color variations with technology.
