Luxury vinyl tile mimics stone
Luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) mimic the characteristics of marble, travertine, slate, and other types of stone. Deep embossing that provides color variation sensures a realistic look. This high-quality material is thicker than standard vinyl and often comes with a 15-year, 30-year, or lifetime warranty.

LVT characteristics
LVT is constructed in layers. A transparent wear layer protects the printed design layer. Usually, the thickness of the wear layer determines the lifetime of the floor. Expect a 20-mil wear layer to last about 5 years, and a 28-mil wear layer to last for up to 10 years. LVT is extremely durable, resilient, and dent, scratch, and stain-resistant. Some products are water-resistant while others are 100 percent waterproof.
The flooring is warmer and less permanent than the stone it imitates. Some tiles feature acrylic grout that is non-porous and easier to maintain than the sanded grout that's used with stone tile. Most brands can be installed over radiant heated floors. This floor covering is a great choice for active areas of the home like kitchens and entryways. Waterproof LVT is ideal for basements. The floor is easy to maintain throughout its lifetime since damaged tiles can easily be replaced.
